Upload a website

Files, database and final verification.

Protect existing content → Open file management → Files and database → Test before going live
Illustrated workflow; screens vary by software version.
  1. Protect existing content

Open the correct hosting service in the panel. If a website already exists, confirm a backup is available before replacing files.

  2. Open file management

Use the hosting file manager or SFTP where supported. Verify the document root for the correct domain; it is often public_html, but confirm it first.

  3. Files and database

Upload files to the correct document root. For WordPress or another application, import the database and configure its connection with a dedicated user. Keep SQL exports and credential files out of public access.

  4. Test before going live

Check the homepage, internal links, forms, HTTPS and file permissions. If the domain points elsewhere, ask for a safe preview before changing DNS.
