Connect a domain to hosting

Point the website correctly while preserving business mail.

Find the DNS manager → Keep the current zone → Point the site and www → Check HTTPS and email
Illustrated workflow; screens vary by software version.
  1. Find the DNS manager

Use the free checker to inspect nameservers. Edit DNS at the provider serving those nameservers, which may differ from the registrar.

  2. Keep the current zone

Record A, AAAA, CNAME, MX and TXT before changing anything. Preserve SPF, DKIM and DMARC for all legitimate senders.

  3. Point the site and www

Get the destination from your hosting service. Update the root A record and www according to the service instructions. Add AAAA only when there is a confirmed IPv6 destination.

  4. Check HTTPS and email

Allow previous cached DNS answers to expire, check the site and www over HTTPS and test email. See the DNS-change guide before changing nameservers.
